Chinese packaging experience shows the need for modern technology for food

In mid-July Shanghai hosted the summit of the Association of Intellectual Packaging Industry Manufacturers. According to participants, smart technologies and smart solutions meet the latest trends in consumer demand in an expanding market.

Euromonitor emphasizes that consumer packaging in China is shaped by changes in consumer demand and behavior. The accelerated pace of life in China stimulates the growth of convenient packaging such as pet jars and collapsible metal tubes.

Subcultural elements are used on beverage labels, which makes the product attractive to a young audience. Today, more and more manufacturers of soft drinks use new technologies to increase sales.

The generation born after 1990 is becoming an increasingly serious sales force. Packaging requirements are also changing.

Speaking at the event John Behrens is a head of Kezzler whose serialization technology helps protect brands and consumers with a unique identification code, shared a recent example of the Chinese market: «A contract was signed with a baby food company unique tracked codes were applied for 80 million units of baby food which significantly increased consumer confidence».

«By tracking products, you can not only solve the problem of counterfeiting, but also work directly with the consumer», the expert said.

Other Systech and Toppan Printing companies have signed an agreement to integrate digital technology into their packaging. The license implies the use of unique barcodes and signatures for packaging that cannot be reproduced.

Recall, from July 15 Russia began an experiment on the labeling of finished dairy products. About 30 companies take part in it.
